Zos Chanukah

As some of you may have seen earlier in the week, Chaim wanted to make whole wheat doughnuts. We pleaded with him and tried to convince him that whole wheat caramel- filled doughnuts don't really sound that appetizing.
Well, he disagreed and insisted we try and make them anyway !!

Here was the start of the process.

We worked hard and after a few tries we were finally able to come up with a great recipe that came out DELICIOUS. Chaim couldn't get enough of  'em.

One big bite for me !!!

Two big bites for me !!

No way mommy...you can't have it back ! It's Soooo Yummy !!
And It's ALL MINE !!!

Hope your Chanukah was as wonderful as ours.

A Freilichen Chanukah!

Chanukah is here- Chaim had a wonderful first experience. We lit outside of the building and everyone who passed by was inspired and only wanted to participate in the Mitzvah. They contributed 1/2 shekel each. We're RICH!!
Afterwards, Chaim enjoyed dinner with us, consisting of hot, delicious latkas and home-made applesauce!
Wishing you a Happy Chanukah!!
Missing you....

After dinner, we took a nice stroll to get some dessert (for Chaim, of course!).  On our way, we passed by a life-size Menorah! Chaim was mesmerized...

When we got to the ice cream store, we gave Chaim the opportunity to choose the flavor.  Chaim was so excited with all the options!

This was taken after he ate the delectable treats! Notice the big smile (on Chaim's face- not Simmy's!) :)
YUM!

Boruch Hashem, Chaim is advancing at a wonderful pace. This week he started feeding himself with his own bottle. It seems like he started crawling on Sari’s bed too.

Chaim's First day in yerushalayim

Chaim's First day was so exciting. Immediately noticeable was his ability to understand what his tatty was saying and to react in kind.

Its the air in the land, it makes you brighter.

Have a wonderful shabbos.

סגולה for who, what ??

סגולה  טו' ב'אב

Sometimes in Israel the signs could be a little confusing. Here is one we saw last night hanging on a bus stop...
(note, this was from a professional tour company )

Does anyone out there know what that thing the sign promises really is ? cuz that’s what tons of people flocked to עמוקא for on this wonderful day!

I hear they are a hot commodity in chutz la-aretz.

Happy Tu’bav everyone.
Lshana haba B’yerushalayim.
Love Baby Chaim

מוצאי שבת קודש

מוצאי שבת קודש
Boruch Hashem, we were able to get out this evening and visit the holy Western Wall a.k.a. the Wailing Wall. There were so many people there; it was a sight to see. We left the Kotel at almost 1am and it seemed as if it was in middle of the afternoon.
We really think Chaim is advancing at a really fast pace. You’ll never believe what he started doing as soon as we got to the wall……. You guessed it!  He started WAILING !!!
It was an enjoyable trip for the family. Chaim quieted down as soon as he had מלוה מלכה and we all davened together for a fantastic upcoming week - for us, for you, and for all of our friends.

שבוע טוב   from ירושלים
Love baby Chaim
and his parents.

Wow! What a tiring night out I had. So glad to be back, chilling with my folks while they eat מלוה מלכה. I hope not to give them a hard night tonight, cuz I know how tired they are from shabbos and this trip.

Baby Chaim's First Flight

While on the phone with Avrumie this morning, he shared with us his sympathy for not being able to enjoy our business first seats, cuz the basinets are so small in business and there were probably no empty seats in business and we probably couldn’t even enjoy the lay down flat beds with the baby and all. … Well as you’ll see, with the help of Hashem, Chaim and his parents were ably to fully enjoy themselves on the way back to artzeinu hakedosha.
Chaim loved his comfortable seats, slept (like a baby) most of the flight, and was really excited when we finally landed in ארץ ישראל .

He misses everyone and wishes everyone a fantastic שבת קודש .

Can’t wait till you come visit.

Love,
Baby Chaim and his parents.

I Really enjoyed the Executive lounge at the airport. The couches were super comfortable, the free drinks were great, and my Mommy got to relax while my Daddy helped himself to the snacks and drinks.

I slept so soundly on these pillows. I think I can really get used to this.

The stewardess was nice enough to help me to my own seat, she didnt think i was
gonna be too comfortable in the little bassinet they had for me. I was really thankful.

My ta tucked me in, sang me a lullaby, gave me a kiss, and let me sleep for hours and hours. I really felt bad for the rest of the people in cattle class, they looked so uncomfortable trying to maneuver their legs into a comfortable position to sleep. They looked more like a bag of contorted pretzels. It was funny

I didn't really want the seat belt at first, but i think it helped me sleep better, i was all snuggly and warm and nobody bothered me.

I really love my parents for taking me on this trip. I'm so so happy being here and my first flight was really a great experience.
Have a great Shabbos.

The Boy Of many Faces :)

Sometimes its funny to see how different facial expressions, captured even seconds apart, display seemingly different personalities.

Only time will tell what his real personality will be .

Have a great shabbos everyone.

Wonderful Visitors from America

As most of you know we had some wonderful visitors from America surprise us and join us for a few days. What can we say - the stay was waaay too short, but tons of fun nonetheless. We spent a fantastic Shabbos together at the Kotel, the mall was tons of fun , Chevron was beautiful, and hanging out in mea shearim/geula was an experience of its own (as you will see in the video below).

Here are some highlights:
See Y'all soon.

Our Homemade Professional Looking Mishloach Manos...

Firstly, I have to tell you that we are really impressed with the comment section (honorable mention to Mordy for believing in himself!)
Secondly, there is actually hope that the blog will be updated more frequently than in the past because Simmy has been providing me with mini-lessons on posting, adding pictures, and videos too!
Can't wait to share it all with you!
 -Sari

We worked very hard on our Mishloach Manos- as you can clearly see!

These were sent to the "choshuv" people- Rabbis, relatives, and the like.  I made delicious chocolate dipped pretzels and Simmy added a bottle of wine.

We sent "Dips and Chips"- a lil taste of Israel.  Simmy made the dips and I made the chips! Real collaboration!

Purim in Yerushalayim!

Since we celebrated Purim only yesterday, please do not consider this post as very delayed.
We had a fantastic time celebrating the holiday in the Holy Land and are happy to share these great moments with you!  Over the next few days, we will be posting pictures and videos of our different activities we experienced throughout the day.  Hope you enjoy!

Rationing

Source-Wikipedia
Rationing: is the controlled distribution of scarce resources, goods, or services. Rationing controls the size of the ration, one's allotted portion of the resources being distributed on a particular day or at a particular time

Due to a serious famine of morning breakfast food, along with some serious foul play by a certain unnamed member of the family, Simmy found it necessary to ensure that he, too, can  partake in the consumption of yummy yummy cocoa pebbles from America.

Thank you, Mommy Pretter, for your intuitive motherly wisdom, by sending 2 packages of cereal that can be equally divided.
You definitely have a share in our Shalom Bayis!

            Mold ???
                         In the Holy Land ??

Mold: Middle English moulde, probably from past participle of moulen, to grow moldy, from Old Norse mygla (wiki)
Mold: Any of various fungi that often form a fuzzy growth (called a mycelium) on the surface of organic matter. Some molds cause food to spoil, but others are beneficial, such as those used to make certain cheeses and those from which antibiotics like penicillin are developed. The molds do not form a distinct phylogenetic grouping but belong to various phyla including the ascomycetes and the zygomycetes
