Zos Chanukah

As some of you may have seen earlier in the week, Chaim wanted to make whole wheat doughnuts. We pleaded with him and tried to convince him that whole wheat caramel- filled doughnuts don't really sound that appetizing.
Well, he disagreed and insisted we try and make them anyway !!

Here was the start of the process.

We worked hard and after a few tries we were finally able to come up with a great recipe that came out DELICIOUS. Chaim couldn't get enough of  'em.

One big bite for me !!!

Two big bites for me !!

No way mommy...you can't have it back ! It's Soooo Yummy !!
And It's ALL MINE !!!

Hope your Chanukah was as wonderful as ours.

  2. Thanks. I heard a good vort on why we eat donuts on chanuka. One of the reasons we celebrate chanuka is because of the chanukas hamizbeach. We eat mezonos
because we can then say al hamichya - that mentions the mizbeach - whereas bircas hamozon doesn't.

  3. as per tati's post that vort can be found in R' Shlomo Zalmans sefer on yomim toivim very beautifull what needs clarification though is that we should be able to eat anything that requires a al hamichya so why donuts ? answer might be because there is enough oil in a fried donut to last till next chanukah:-)
