Gut Voch

Due to the snow and rain issues between America and eretz hakedosha, our videos have been somewhat delayed.
Hope you had a gut voch either way.

Below is a short clip of our occasional motzei shabbos outing to the kotel. Simmy loves going then because the tourists are few and far between, and the crowd is usually limited to frum people all still dressed in their shabbos best.

Our melave malka, (as you will see ) was simmys brainstorm as well as his made up recipe....believe it or not they came out great!!

A gutten Erev Shabbos

Sorry to be posting this clip after the fact- we didn't have a chance to send this before Shabbos, but still wanted you to get a glimpse  of our erev Shabbos excursion.

Hope your Shabbos was as wonderful as ours.

Aliyat Neshomah

Photobucket

Although we are so very far away geographically, we feel a strong sense of closeness, especially at a time like this.

Wishing we could be there in person.... May we share in only simchos in the future.

Our First Post

So Simmy and I have been trying to figure out a way to keep the rest of you guys in touch with us. We know how hard it is to be away from us for so long, and figured this may be a good way for us to keep everyone updated on all the latest tidings here in Artzenu Hakedosha.

We hope to be able to update the blog periodically with pictures, videos, and of course exciting "only in Israel stories" so be sure to check back with us soon.

We hope to add a widget (simmy told me what that was) to allow everyone to subscribe and get an email notification whenever there's a new post..
Of Course, comments and feedback are always appreciated.

Looking forward to seeing everyone when we get back.....
Until then......
Shalom, U'Lehitraot

                            INAUGURAL VIDEO POST

בן פורת יוסף עלי עין

About the video:

We went shopping for gifts in Mea Shearim one day, and in the store they had little gold fish all over the counter.....we had no clue what they were....

Theres a tradition among sefardic jews (here in Israel we call them 'frankim') that when they bless a friend they wish them "Ben porat yosef".
This may sound strange to some of you, but it comes from a Gemara in brochos that Rashi quotes in chumash. When Yakov bentches Yosef He says "Ben Porat Yosef,Ben Porat Alei Ayin" -- Rashi quotes the gemara that darshens that the brocha was meant to protect Yosef from Ayin Hora. Just like when Yakov blessed Menashe and Ephraim he blessed them "like fish, that are not susceptible to ayin hora.

The results are what you see in the video below.
Enjoy.
