NY bagels in the Holy Land!

Having a good bagel for ‘break’fast may not be quite that exciting for most of you. However, here in the Holy Land, the Israelis haven't yet figured out how to master the great New York bagel. The truth is that anyone outside NY really hasn't figured it out either. But that's because they don't know it’s all in the NY water. The Israelis on the other hand think that making a challah in the shape of an 'O' suffices as a reason to call it a bagel. ....I don’t think so!.

So this afternoon while the Mommy was out, Simmy and son decided to surprise Mommy with some hot fresh NY bagels to come home to. (Well really Simmy was in the mood for a good bagel to break his fast on and knew that finding one here wasn't that likely. So like a lot of other things.....he just did it himself! )

Needless to say they turned out quite good....Just look at the smile on Chaya Tehila's face!

What kind of Bagel do you prefer?

Tell us in the comment section and you’ll automatically be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of Simmy's homemade Israeli-NY bagels. :)

The secret to good bagels: Boiling in NY water

All different flavors

Chaim carefully inspecting that Daddy do's it right!

One word: YUM !!!

Chaim got to try it out first with some tuna. It was 'alicious' Mommy !

Chaya Tehila obviously felt the same as her brother and devoured it with Mommy's homemade cream cheese

Chaim could never hold himself back from sharing a good thing with others (well not quite with his sister, but we're working on it)

Hope your fast was meaningful and easy.

Happy 1st Birthday Princess

In honor of his sister's birthday, Chaim made "alicious" cupcakes for each member of his family and decorated them with #1's.  Notice how meticulous he was while putting on the sprinkles, one at a time!

 The End result:

Our lil' princess, bedecked in all her glory, as she awaits her special birthday treat!

Singing happy birthday... and eyeing those cupcakes!

Getting ready to blow out the candle...

YUMMY!! It really is "alicious"...   CT has reached a new milestone on her birthday- eating a cupcake for the first time!

 Good til the last crumb!

All done with mine- now onto the next one.  Think Chaim will mind sharing?!

Well, all in all, it was a wonderful celebration!  Wish you could have been there to join us!

Morning Feedings !

Good Morning,
Feeding time in the morning has become into a really enjoyable routine. Previously it was Mommy trying to juggle between two hungry mouths that couldn’t get enough of what was for breakfast. Boruch Hashem we now have an extra set of friendly hands that has become really capable at pitching in when Mommy could use them. Chaya Tehila seems to enjoy the help just as much!
Enjoy your day and the video below.

Kugel Anyone ?

When Simmy and I were dating, he told me a story about how his mother went up to Toronto for Shabbos one week and he stayed home with Mordechai and Ta. He became the designated cook and made the potato kugel all by himself. Needless to say, I was quite impressed- I mean how many guys his age know how to scramble eggs, let alone a whole potato kugel! He was 25 at the time….
His son, though, had an earlier head start …..
Enjoy!
